  • Details
The Lawrence Tap "for drawing at will a single glass of koumiss, champagne, soda, ale, or other effervescent drink, yet preserving the remainder"
Such a great late 19th century invention- an American bar tool invented by William and Richard Bentley- Patented on October 17, 1876- designed to extract a single serving of champagne, ale, or soda without removing the cork, preserving the carbonation in the rest of the bottle. The tap features a pointed, hollow shaft designed with small holes that goes through the cork of the bottle; once inserted, a button can be turned to dispense a glass of elixir (turning it back quickly reseals the bottle, ensuring the carbonation cannot escape). Distributed and famously marketed by The Theo. Ricksecker Company in New York- the original box contains an advertisement for soap on the interior lid. The oak box measures 5" x 1.75" x 1.75" and is in good condition; the top outer label is soiled with some corner chipping. The nickel plated tap is in good condition with wear that is reflective of age. Please message us if you have any questions- Thanks for looking!
