DetailsThis artwork is AMAZING! A soulful bear serenading a flock of pigeons on a sidewalk- who would of thought we would stumble upon this exquisite hand painted illustration in Hyannis, Cape Cod this summer!?! The painted brush strokes are fine, the colors are vibrant. It is an unsigned work, no name, no initials (which was customary of illustrators of books)- the only clue we have to determine its age is the back....stamped "Bainbridge Board 172 Hot Press Finish Single or Double Thick Charles T. Bainbridge's Sons , Cranbury N.J.". This board was used in the 80's by commercial illustrators, comic artists, and cartoonists. The piece measures 18" x 16" and is unframed. The faint pencil lines to center the illustration can be slightly seen. There are two tiny spots to the right bottom corner (soiling in the white- the painted area is very clean). If anyone has any information about this fine painting or the book that it was illustrated in, we would love to hear from you!
