DetailsThis 19th c. Honey Yellow Amber Cut Glass Goblet is gorgeous! It is beautifully engraved, circa 1840-1870, with "Gesundheit" ("Health"), “Gluck” (Happiness); “Frende” (Friends); and “Verlaugera Lebeit” (Prolong Life).
This style of footed goblet was popular in the 1800s at historic European spa towns- visitors would purchase these finely decorated glasses as high-end souvenirs to carry with them while drinking mineral waters directly from the town's natural spring. The circular base features an etched leaf motif, the sides depicting etched fountains, birds, flowers, and garlands.
The goblet is in very good condition with one tiny, VERY hard to see flea bite to the rim; it measures
7.75” tall x 4” in diameter. The underside has a fantastic pontil surrounded by wear that is reflective of the early 19th century age. This glass goblet is beautiful (our photos don’t do it justice)! Please message us if you have any questions- Thanks for looking! -
