These Plastic Bricks were a predecessor to Lego….. a classic mid-century construction toy canister containing American Plastic Bricks by Elgo, a highly popular interlocking brick toy produced in the United States during the post-WWII era. Elgo Plastics Inc. was established in Chicago, Illinois in 1941- the name "Elgo" is derived from its founders' last names, Hal Elliot and Sam Goss. The canister, which has wonderful graphics, measures 16” x 4.25” in diameter- it contains hundreds of red and white building blocks, a green roof, and the original instruction manual.
